The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) provides that every Nigerian citizen has the right to acquire and own immovable property anywhere in Nigeria. But, there is a restriction to this law.
The Land Use Act dictates that there is a legal age for land ownership in Nigeria. The Land Use Act prohibits the grant of the statutory right of occupancy or consent to any person under the age of 21 years, therefore making the legal age for land ownership in Nigeria is 21 years.
Although there are some exceptions in cases of inheritance and ownership through an appointed guardian/trustee.
With these exceptions, people below age 21 can own real estate. Your children and wards are not left out. They can own real estate through you.
